Ron Rezek

Ron Rezek was born in 1946 in Oakland, California, USA. He earned his Bachelor and Master degree in Fine Arts Industrial Design at UCLA. His design career began in 1970 with a bright orange plastic water rescue can which he designed for professional lifeguards. A graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, Rezek spent his early career teaching in the school’s art and architecture departments, as well as at Art Center College of Design and the Southern California Institute of Architecture. After that great success, he established Ron Rezek Lighting in 1978 to design and manufacture contemporary lighting fixtures (selling the company to Artemide in 2004). In 1986 He created the world's first contemporary-styled ceiling fan, the Stratos. But his list of accomplishments in the design world is long and varied, from lifeguard equipment to contemporary lighting.
