Lighting55 Scholarship Program

Lighting55 is offering college based scholarships for students aspiring to achieve a college education. As we have attended college education ourselves, we are aware of the difficulty students face in financing their education. We recognize the benefits a college degree can provide. That's why our need-based scholarship rewards students who are looking to better themselves, who have goals and dreams, and who are committed to achieving a college degree. Students of all majors of all countries who are 16 years of age or older are encouraged to apply for our scholarships. High school students, undergraduate students, master degree students, and adult learners are all encouraged to apply.

Kaitlyn Heatley (Oklahoma Christian University)
All through high school I was very active in my church and in my school. I have lettered in swim all four years that I participated, which gave me an outlet during some not so good times through high school. Swim team gave me an opportunity to challenge myself, learn how far I can go, and to meet new people that have similar interests. I formed lasting relationships that have gone on past my time as a swimmer. I also participated in our school newspaper, which gave me a chance to further develop my writing skills as well as keeping me up to date on my school. Newspaper gave me a chance to talk to people I might not have considered getting to know. I was also active with our stagecraft department. I ran the light board for several of our various productions as well as our talent show. It was an amazing experience to be a part of something that had so many different parts working to create one thing. It was a unique opportunity to have that kind of experience and be introduced to yet more people that are outside of my immediate friend group. My youth group at Cherokee Hills Baptist Church was yet another place I spent a lot of time helping with vacation bible school as well as various community service efforts. Now being a sophomore in college, I am excited to have the opportunity to join a social club as well as play intermural flag football. I believe that being involved in different activites is a way to open yourself up and to grow as a person. I enjoy staying active in whatever setting I am in because being involved presents you with many opportunities you wouldn't otherwise have, as well as opens doors to meeting new people and maybe even seeing things in a new and different light.
